The Review
This is a beautiful heartwarming story of two people struggling to work through the hand that life has dealt them.
Bethan is a single mother with a secret past that she is trying to overcome and Lachlan is a soldier in the British Army attempting to rehabilitate after an accident put his career on hold.
Lachlan spent his days doing physiotherapy and lamenting his situation.
Bethan spent hers working in a small, cosy garden centre to provide a stable life for her son.
One day Lachlan looked out of his apartment window to find a someone new had moved into the unit across from him. He begins to wonder who this mysterious person is and a vase of flowers gave him a chance to find out.
Putting a sign in his window asking his new neighbour what the flowers were started a hilarious and wonderful friendship for the both of them.
However, Bethan doesn’t know about Lachlan’s leg, and Lachlan doesn’t know about Noah, Bethan’s three-year-old son. Could this change everything when they finally meet face to face?
I love this book. The slow growth of their relationship through messages, not seeing each other fully until they’d chatted a little while was endearing, it showed that looks aren’t everything. Loneliness on either side of the windows brought them together in such a cute way that you can’t help but feel it tugging at your heartstrings.
Overall it’s a lovely story of two people finding strength in their own way with each other and growing something beautiful.
